Description: 
Walter Heinrichs, Jr. was a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with a major in geophysics in 1940. His early career was spent in Oklahoma and Texas. He was the co-discoverer of the Pima Mine in southern Arizona using geophysical techniques and went on to co-found the Heinrichs GEOEXploration Company in Tucson in 1958. The company was active until 2011. Walter was active in several professional geological organizations and received numerous awards for his contributions to the profession. Lineage Statement: 
The collection was donated to the Arizona Department of Mines and Minerals in 2002. The Arizona Geological Survey received it from ADMMR in 2011 when it took custody of the agency's records.
